We are a CANADIAN based business. Our Business is designed to help you preserve your most precious memories for a lifetime and beyond. To do this, we convert your cherished home movies from a somewhat perishable media to media that, with proper care, will last indefinitley.

FACTS ABOUT ANALOG MEDIA

We all remember those "good ol' days". The 8mm film in the projector breaks just at the wrong time, or the VHS tape becomes riddled with lines. Worse yet it jambs in the machine and becomes unviewable. What about that tape from Christmas, 5 years ago. "I don't remember it being that ghastly orange or red hue back then"! The fact is that over time film and tape, through repeated use or just age, become distorted and degraded. Just sitting on the shelf a VHS tape can degrade signifigantly over an 8 to 10 year period just due to climatic conditions such as humidity and/or dryness in the air. Through multiple viewings tapes become stretched and thus both video and audio can become affected. In addition, malfunctioning machinery can cause your tape to jamb, or in a worse case scenerio, to break. Such are some of the perils of analog media. Converting your movies to DVD will stop the deterioration process dead in its tracks.

 

PHOTOGRAPHS

Sometimes a photo or slide is more precious than a moving picture. It literally freezes a moment in time. Usually a very special moment. Here at HMC we can produce a slide show of your most cherished moments in time. Each photo or slide is exposed for a 7 second span, right on your television screen. If you wish to view the image longer, it is simply a matter of pressing the pause button on your remote. When you wish to continue, you just press pause again. We also have the ability to convert negatives to photos for your slide show. In most cases the negative will produce a better picture as it has been stored in an envelope or holder away from direct light. This direct light is the most common reason for color fade.
The mood of the subject matter can be enhanced by adding a soundtrack or narration to the slide show. Again, we can't emphasize enough the great personalized and sensitive gift something like this could be.

 

WHY DVD?

The perils above are reason enough to consider preservation of your home movies onto DVD. The first thing to remember is that CD and DVD media are both read by a beam of light. No moving parts actually touch the media, thus degradation due to the friction of moving parts does not exist. Secondly, DVDs are a digital medium as opposed to the analog medium of film and tape. Digital media is easier to store and work with. Once your movies are converted to DVD, there will be no further degradation. Digital is the media choice of the future, and is an easier format to convert to future media innovations while protecting the quality of the video. In addition, the equipment used to read and view this new media is becoming fairly standard. Most DVD players can read and play CD, MP3, movies on CD, movies and pictures on DVD. This is a far cry from the days when you used to have an 8 track tape player, a casette player, a turntable, a VCR, a projector and so on. One simple, single media for all of your entertainment applications.
